A bespoke reagent-free amperometric bromide sensor for seawater

Measurement of the exact concentration bromide in seawater, usually present at ca milli-Molar level, is significant for evaluating geological, biological and environmental conditions. Although silver electrodes are commonly used amperometric halide measurements, providing selectivity ions with similar concentrations, signal obtained seawater masked by that chloride hundred millimolar levels. Thus, an alternative bespoke reagent-free electrochemical sensor was developed benefits low cost, simplicity rapidity. This based on voltammetric oxidation Pt macro-electrode, which results a well-defined separated from peak seawater. The sensitive quantification performed square wave voltammetry combined standard addition method, evidenced to be valid both artificial authentic natural measured concentrations three real samples show good agreement ion chromatography. • A method Br − detection selective despite high Cl . macro-electrode designed uses ions. Natural analysis gave excellent independent IC analysis.
